Remove Any Color

Copyright © April, 2004 SuzShook

dot   Script Summary:

The purpose of this script is to remove any color from an image, much like the Eliminate White and Eliminate Black filters do. This script has more flexibility than those filters, because it allows you to remove ANY color from an image.

The script initially promotes the background layer if necessary, and then presents the Select Color Range dialog. The Reference color box contains the color to be removed. Move the cursor over the image and click a color to change the Reference color. You can also click this box to open the Color dialog and choose a color.

In the Tolerance edit box, specify a color tolerance (0 to 200). If the value is 0, no colors are removed from the selection area. If you specify a higher value, shades of the color or related colors are removed

In the Softness edit box, specify the amount of softness for the referenced color. "Softness selects colors partially. At a Softness of 0 there is no partial selection of color. As Softness is increased, colors differing by more than Tolerance from the Referenced color become partly selected. Partly selected means that the more different the color, the lower the degree of selection. The utility of Softness is to give your selection soft edges based on color differences." -Kris Zaklika, Jasc

Notes and Tips:
checkmark When you remove a color, you may remove some of the color from the image itself. To replace any color you've removed, activate the Eraser tool and holding down the right mouse button, unerase those areas you want to replace. Thanks, McHooii, for the tip!
